Gökçen Cabadan


Gökçen Cabadan (born in İzmir, 1980) lives and works in Brussels, Belgium, graduated from Dokuz Eylül University Fine Arts Faculty in 2003. He completed his master’’s degree at Multimedia Department of Hogeschool Gent Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 2006. Gökçen Cabadan’s art a throwback to the Romantic urge of the individualistic self-expression of the artist. According to him, In that tradition art is communicatively accessible only where the artist stands at the center of its art. Therefore Cabadan’s art is extended attempt at self-portraiture through the parts of a whole. Cabadan is insistent to follow this convention of aesthetics which is hyper-romantic even if in these days when it is difficult to find ‘our own selves’. Cabadan is in Cité recidency program in Paris between July – December, 2010.
